Understanding Connections: A PTSD/Trauma Support Group

Trauma & PTSD support groupDescription: A facilitated support group for those experiencing trauma-related symptoms such as persistent negative mood, avoidance, intrusive thoughts, increased reactivity, inability to focus, flashbacks, nightmares, insomnia, memory loss, mistrust and hypervigilance, amongst others.

Suitable for those on waiting lists for personal therapy, currently engaged with or transitioning out of therapy, or for whānau of those in therapy.

Benefits include meeting others with similar experiences, learning coping strategies, improving relationships, and building resilience. The arts provide nonverbal support throughout the journey and creative approaches to addressing trauma.

Maximum 8 participants, mixed gender.

Next group : Runs weekly for 8 weeks on Thursday evening, 7.00pm 8.30pm, starting 30th July 2026.

Venue : Hinemoa St, Birkenhead, Auckland

Facilitators : Debbi Lyons, Registered Psychotherapist
