NB: My practice is currently full, so unfortunately I cannot take on new clients at this time.

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist based in Auckland. I am from Ireland and have practiced as a nurse for ten years prior to training as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

Alongside my private practice in Child and Adolescent psychotherapy, I am currently working in child and adolescent mental health in the public sector, as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

Client Types : Children & Adolescents

Issues Covered : ADHD, Adoption, Anger Management, Anxiety, Autism & Aspergers, Depression, Emotional Instability, Grief and Loss, Identity, Loneliness, Migration Adjustment, Mind-Body Counselling, OCD, Panic Attacks, Parenting, Personal Development, Physical Illness, PTSD & Trauma, Relationship Issues, Religious Issues, Self-Esteem, Self-Harm, Sexuality and Gender, Sexual Abuse, Social Anxiety, Stress, Suicidality, Toxic Shame, Transitions and Change.

Approach : I use a relational psychodynamic and mentalization based approach with children, young people and their family/whānau. When I work alongside people, I ensure to explore what is happening for them and consider their unique cultural needs.

Child psychotherapy can be useful for a range of difficulties experienced by a child or teenager. These include anxiety, grief or loss, loneliness, anger, aggression, toileting difficulties, trauma, separation anxiety, identity worries, those experiencing questions regarding their gender or sexuality.

I use a variety of play-based equipment to encourage each child and teenager to express themselves and share their experience through creative expression. I engage in a collaborative approach with family/whānau through regular meetings to support them with the situation the child or teen might be going through.

Registrations : PBANZ (Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand)
