Hi! I’m Imogen (she/her), a psychotherapist based in Grey Lynn, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. I work in-person and online with people aged 18+ experiencing a range of difficulties – including challenges that are long standing or recurring.

My Approach: When things are difficult, and we are stuck, hurting, or afraid, therapy can help us find a way forward. However, this process isn’t easy – getting to know the distressed parts of ourselves is brave and, at times, painful work. So, it’s important to find the right therapist for you. Below, I hope to offer you a sense of what our work together might look like. Please reach out if you would like to know more.

As a psychotherapist, I will walk alongside you towards the things that are hard, so we can face them together. The type of therapy I offer is called Integrative Relational Psychotherapy. This approach is collaborative, flexible, and research-led – which helps ensure your therapy is as effective as possible. As we work, I will draw on a range of theoretical frameworks and treatment models, including affective and interpersonal neuroscience, developmental psychology, attachment and trauma theory, and psychodynamic and experiential therapies.

Together we will take time to understand what is bringing you to therapy and where our work might focus. If you are seeking therapy for recurring or long standing difficulties, we will think about the ways in which your life experiences may have contributed to where you find yourself – shaping your mental, emotional, and bodily health, and how you think, feel, and relate to yourself and others. Importantly, we will go beyond a search for insight. As therapy progresses, I aim to help you experience and integrate shifts at an emotional and bodily level – allowing fundamental change to take place within.

Over time, these shifts can be transformative. Effective therapy can diminish suffering; cultivate self-acceptance, pride, and a sense of aliveness; and help you feel close, connected, and safe with others.

I have worked in both public and private healthcare settings – including at Auckland Hospital’s Clinical Immunology and Allergy service. Here I supported patients experiencing distressing, sometimes life-threatening chronic illnesses. My time with the service taught me a great deal about the interconnectedness of psychological and physical health, and the profound impact that chronic stress, trauma, and adverse life experiences have upon the body.
