I have a passion for working with young people, I began working with children and youth in my early 20’s as a mentor, youth worker, sports coach and camp counsellor. After many years connecting with young people and having conversations during recreational activities I noticed a great number of youth were struggling with their thoughts and feelings about themselves and others. At this point, I decided to develop the necessary therapeutic skills and qualifications that would allow me to work with children and adolescents experiencing significant difficulties in their everyday lives. Both my psychotherapy training and my occupational therapy training have given me the skills and knowledge to work with children and adolescents experiencing a variety of complex issues.

Client Types : Children and Adolescents (family/whānau support work)

Issues Covered : Anxiety, depression, emotional dis-regulation, behaviour issues, loneliness, trauma, loss and despair, self-harm and suicidality, social anxiety, self-esteem issues, identity, and those seeking support with their gender or sexuality.

Approach : I currently work with children, adolescents and their family/whānau using a psychodynamic approach, this means the therapeutic relationship is created through talking, the use of play, art and sand tray modalities. Ultimately the therapeutic space is client led, it is their time to use as they need. I hold the hope of creating a space of trust and openness where a healing journey can begin for each individual I work alongside.

I understand that it can be a very unsettling time for a parent, caregiver or whānau member when their child or teenager is having emotional difficulties. Choosing the right person to work alongside you and help your child or teenager process their thoughts and feelings is a big decision. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to find out more about how I work and decide whether I might be a good fit for your child or teenager.
