Ma te rongo ka mohio, Ma te mohio ka marama, Ma te marama ka matau, Ka matau ka ora.
Through resonance comes awareness, through awareness comes understanding, through understanding comes knowledge, through knowledge comes well being.
For me, this whakatauki is a good place to start when thinking about psychotherapy and it's impact. I believe that the more we can understand about ourselves, the more we can support and uplift our own well being.
Tēnā koe, ko Anna Hinehou Fleming tēnei. He uri ahau no Ngāpuhi, no Ngāti Hine, no Tūhoe, no Ingarangi.
My name is Anna, and my whakapapa connects me to Te Tai Tokerau, Te Urewera and England. I am a cisgender wahine and my pronouns are she/her.
My belief is that psychotherapy is both a process and relationship which helps us to understand more about ourselves and how we interact with the world around us. You may have experienced an event that you are struggling with, or you may just not feel 'yourself'. My intention is that having psychotherapy kōrero with me will assist you to process and make sense of how you are feeling and how potential past experiences have impacted you.
I have spent much of my training deepening not only my understanding into psychotherapeutic process and healing, but also in thinking about how indigenous knowledge and wisdom supports our health and wellbeing. I believe that my inclusion of both indigenous and western models of well being allows for a well rounded therapeutic approach. If this is something you have been thinking about for yourself, or if my kōrero has resonated with you, please feel free to make contact.
