Hello and welcome, I am a registered child and adolescent psychotherapist based in Herne Bay, Auckland. I support people aged 4-18 who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood or self esteem, or who have experienced challenging and unexpected life experiences. I am particularly passionate about providing a safe and healing space for children after a bereavement, loss or significant life change.
Client Types : Adolescents and Children.
Approach : I provide a warm and supportive space for children and adolescents, with a focus on helping young people feel understood and heard through genuine connection and care. I work alongside your young person to explore the thoughts, feelings and patterns that may be contributing to distress or perhaps a feeling of being stuck and discover new ways of thinking, understanding themselves and relating to others. I use a combination of play therapy and talk therapy, tailoring the approach to each child or adolescent's individual needs. Therapy may be short or long term and is weekly.
Working alongside parents to develop an understanding of what may be happening with your child, particularly when behaviour feels confronting or confusing, is an important part of my practice. Together, we can create a supportive environment that helps your young person feel safe to explore and grow. Holding a capacity for hope is central to my practice.
My work draws on psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, and attachment theories and research and I have experience in the public and private sectors.
