Psychotherapy with Children and Young People

Children and young people with severe and long-lasting problems may respond to people and situations in ways that they do not understand and cannot control. Emotions can be extremely powerful and usually are expressed through their behaviour, often hindering them in being able to use care and opportunities that are available.

A child psychotherapist can help a child to understand him/herself through the therapeutic relationship. This can then help to shed light on other relationships in the child’s life, both past and present. It can also lead to the child feeling less anxious, being more focused and able to learn, better equipped to sustain friendships and to improve the quality of life in the family.
